Meet Dr. Martin Rabinovich, Board Certified Orthodontist

Dr. Rabinovich grew up in Marlboro, completed his undergraduate degree at Rutgers University, earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, and finished his orthodontic residency at the University of Colorado where he also earned a Master of Science in Dentistry. He is board certified and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, and the Monmouth-Ocean County Dental Society.
That training matters because braces work best when the orthodontist is treating cases full time. Dr. Rabinovich does not split his attention across general dentistry, hygiene, and oral surgery. Orthodontics is his only focus, which is why patients with complex bite issues, jaw growth concerns, or extended treatment timelines get a sharper plan from a specialist than from a general dentist who occasionally does braces work.

Braces for Children, Teens, and Adults
We treat patients at every life stage. Each group has different needs.
Children (ages 7 to 11): The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check by age 7. Most kids that age will not need treatment yet, but early evaluation catches the small number of cases (crossbite, severe crowding, jaw asymmetry, thumb-sucking effects) where early intervention prevents bigger problems later. Treatment at this stage is often partial and short, designed to guide growth rather than fully straighten.
Teens (ages 12 to 17): The classic braces population. Most teens we see have all their permanent teeth and are ready for full braces treatment. Treatment runs 18 to 30 months depending on the case. We work hard to keep appointment schedules compatible with school commitments.
Adults: Roughly half of US orthodontic patients are now adults. Many come in because they were never treated as children, or because their alignment has shifted over the decades. Adult cases sometimes take a bit longer than teen cases because adult bone is less responsive to movement, but the results are just as solid. LightForce, InBrace, Invisalign, and Spark are particularly popular with adult patients who want a less visible option.
Insurance, Financing, and the Real Cost of Braces
The actual price you pay depends on your case, the type of braces or aligners you choose, treatment length, and your insurance coverage. Rather than publish a vague range that may not match your situation, here is the process we use:
- You bring your insurance cardto the consultation, or call us in advance with the policy details.
- We run a benefits checkand find out what your orthodontic benefit is, how much has been used, and what your out-of-pocket will be.
- We quote a fixed totalat the consultation. The treatment fee is locked in; no surprise add-ons during treatment.
- We offer no-interest monthly paymentsspread across the treatment period. No credit application for the in-house plan.
The consultation is free.

Frequently Asked Questions About Braces in Eatontown
How far is your office from Eatontown?
Most Eatontown homes are 5 to 7 minutes from our office at 20 White Rd in Shrewsbury, taking Route 35 north or Wyckoff Road to Sycamore Avenue. There is parking at the building, so the door-to-chair time is short.
Can adults get braces, or are they only for kids?
Roughly half of all orthodontic patients in the US are now adults. Adult treatment is just as effective as teen treatment, though it can take a bit longer because adult bone moves more slowly. We see adults in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s. The popular adult options are LightForce, InBrace, Invisalign, and Spark, all of which are less visible than traditional metal braces.
How long does braces treatment usually take?
Most full treatment cases run 18 to 30 months. Mild cases can finish in 12 months or less. Complex cases (severe crowding, significant bite correction, jaw growth issues in younger patients) can take 24 to 36 months or longer. The consultation produces a specific timeline estimate for your case.
Will braces affect my child's school activities or sports?
Generally no. Kids continue playing sports, participating in band, doing theater, all of it. For contact sports (football, lacrosse, basketball, hockey, soccer) we strongly recommend a mouthguard, and we can fit a custom one over the braces. For wind instruments (brass especially), there is usually a short adjustment period of a week or two when the player gets used to the new feel against their lips. Most musicians adapt within a couple of practice sessions.
What foods will my child need to avoid with braces?
With traditional and ceramic braces, the rule is no hard, sticky, or chewy foods that can break a bracket or get stuck in the wires. That means no hard candy, no caramels, no popcorn, no whole apples (cut them up), no ice chewing, no gum (unless sugar-free and approved), no whole carrots or hard pretzels. With clear aligners (Invisalign, Spark), you take them out to eat, so there are no food restrictions at all - one of the practical reasons families choose aligners. We send you home from the bonding appointment with a complete food list.
