What Braces Cost and How We Handle Insurance
Costs depend on case complexity, the type of braces or aligners used, treatment length, and your insurance coverage. We run a benefits check before your consultation so the conversation starts with your actual out-of-pocket. At the consultation, we quote a fixed total - no surprise add-ons during treatment.
For the portion not covered by insurance, we offer no-interest monthly payment plans through the office. No credit application required for the in-house plan. We are in network with several major dental insurance carriers that include orthodontic benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions About Braces in Fort Monmouth
How long does it take to drive to your office from Fort Monmouth?
Most addresses in the Fort Monmouth redevelopment area are 8 to 12 minutes from our office at 20 White Rd, Shrewsbury. The exact route depends on which side of the former base you live on, but all routes connect to Route 35, which runs directly into Shrewsbury. Parking is at the building.
What's the difference between braces and Invisalign clear aligners?
Braces are fixed appliances. Brackets are bonded to your teeth and connected by an archwire that gets adjusted at each visit. Braces work continuously, whether you remember about them or not. Invisalign (and Spark) are removable transparent trays. You wear each tray for one to two weeks, then move to the next. Aligners come out for meals and special occasions. Braces handle a wider range of cases, including complex bite issues. Aligners are best for mild to moderate cases and work only if worn about 22 hours a day. At the consultation, we will tell you honestly which option (or which combination) makes sense for your case.
Are braces covered by insurance?
Dental insurance plans vary widely in how they cover orthodontic treatment. Many plans include an orthodontic benefit, but the benefit is often capped at a lifetime maximum (commonly $1,500 to $2,500). Some plans cover children only, not adults. Some have age cutoffs. Before your consultation, call us with your insurance information and we will run a benefits check so you walk into the conversation with real numbers, not estimates. We are in network with several major carriers.
How much do braces cost?
Honest answer: it depends. The variables are case complexity, the type of braces or aligners you choose, treatment length, and your insurance coverage. Rather than quote a range that may not match your case, we run your insurance and your scan, then quote a fixed total at the consultation. The total is locked in - no surprise add-ons during treatment. For the part not covered by insurance, we offer no-interest monthly payments. The consultation itself is free.
What are lingual or 'behind the teeth' braces?
Lingual braces are placed on the tongue side of your teeth instead of the front. From the outside, you cannot see them. We use the InBrace system, which is a modern version of lingual braces that uses a continuous smart wire to move teeth between visits, rather than the older lingual systems that required manual adjustments at each appointment. InBrace works well for most mild to moderate cases. There is a short adjustment period for speech, usually a week or two, while your tongue gets used to the new feel. Most patients are back to normal speech within ten days. The option is most popular with adults whose work or lifestyle does not accommodate visible braces.
