Dr. Martin Rabinovich grew up in Marlboro. He attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick, earned his dental degree from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, completed his orthodontic specialty residency at the University of Colorado, and came home to practice. MHR Orthodontics is his practice, located 25 minutes east of Marlboro in Shrewsbury. He treats children, teens, and adults from across Monmouth County, but the patients walking into the office today include a lot of Marlboro families he might have grown up around.

First consultations are complimentary. Patients who choose Invisalign also receive complimentary professional teeth whitening at the end of treatment.

Dr. Rabinovich Grew Up in Marlboro. Now He Practices 25 Minutes East.

There aren't many orthodontists in Monmouth County who grew up here. There are even fewer who specifically grew up in Marlboro. Dr. Rabinovich is one of them.

After Marlboro public schools, he went to Rutgers University in New Brunswick for his Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences, then stayed at Rutgers for his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. From there he went to Denver for three years of advanced specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the University of Colorado, where he also earned a Master of Science in Dentistry. During residency he treated cleft lip and palate patients along with craniofacial anomaly patients in affiliation with Children's Hospital Colorado, and he served on the American Association of Orthodontists Council on New and Younger Members representing the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists.

Then he came home. The MHR Orthodontics office in Shrewsbury is the practice he built when he returned to Monmouth County. He's an active member of the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, the Monmouth Ocean County Dental Society, and the American Association of Orthodontists. He's board-certified.

That hometown connection is part of the reason MHR feels different from a chain operation or a corporate-owned practice. The doctor at your child's chair isn't a transplant rotating between offices. He's a Marlboro kid who grew up to specialize in orthodontics, and he came back to do it where he grew up.

Why Marlboro Families Choose MHR Orthodontics

Hometown Roots and Specialty Training

Any licensed dentist in New Jersey can place braces or sell Invisalign. A board-certified orthodontist completed two to three years of full-time post-doctoral residency in nothing but tooth movement, jaw growth, and bite mechanics, then passed the American Board of Orthodontics certification examination. The training is much deeper, and the certification is voluntary. Board-certified orthodontists choose to hold themselves to a higher standard.

Dr. Rabinovich is a board-certified orthodontist who personally examines every new patient, builds every treatment plan, and handles the clinical decisions throughout treatment. You see the same doctor at every visit. That continuity matters in orthodontics, where a treatment plan can run 12 to 24 months and small adjustments at each appointment add up to the final result.

Treatment Options for Children, Teens, and Adults

Every patient is different. At your complimentary consultation, Dr. Rabinovich walks you through which options will work for your case and why.

  • Traditional metal braces for predictable correction of complex cases. Today's brackets are smaller, smoother, and more comfortable than they were a generation ago.
  • LightForce 3D-printed custom braces with each bracket printed for the exact tooth it sits on, which can shorten treatment time.
  • InBrace lingual braces placed behind the teeth so they're invisible from the front.
  • Invisalign clear aligners for discreet, removable straightening.
  • Spark clear aligners with stain-resistant material and a smoother gumline trim.
  • Phase 1 (early interceptive) treatment for children whose jaw growth needs guidance, typically beginning at age 7 to 9.
  • Adult orthodontics, with discreet aligner and lingual options that fit professional life.

Frequently Asked Questions from Marlboro Patients

Did Dr. Rabinovich really grow up in Marlboro?

Yes. He was born and raised in Marlboro Township, Monmouth County. He attended Marlboro public schools before continuing on to Rutgers University and then Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. After completing his orthodontic specialty residency at the University of Colorado, he returned to Monmouth County to start MHR Orthodontics.

How long is the drive from Marlboro to MHR Orthodontics?

Approximately 25 to 30 minutes depending on which part of Marlboro you're coming from. Most Marlboro patients reach the Shrewsbury office via Route 79 to Route 537 East, or via Route 18 to Route 35 South. The Garden State Parkway is also an option from northern Marlboro.

How long does orthodontic treatment usually take?

Most full treatments run between 12 and 24 months. Phase 1 (early) treatment in younger children is typically shorter, around 9 to 12 months, with a rest period before Phase 2 begins. Dr. Rabinovich gives you a specific time estimate at your complimentary consultation.

Does my dental insurance cover Invisalign?

Many dental plans include orthodontic coverage that applies equally to braces and Invisalign. Coverage amounts vary widely. The MHR team will verify your specific benefits before your consultation.

Is my child too young for braces?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. That doesn't mean treatment starts at 7. It means an evaluation at that age allows the orthodontist to spot problems with jaw growth, crowding, or bite that are easier to correct early.
